Holly Bleasdale has been forced to withdraw from the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix in Birmingham and the European Under-23 Championships as a result of an injury.
The 21-year-old said: “Unfortunately I’m going to miss the Sainsbury’s Grand Prix in Birmingham and the European Under-23 Championships due to small injuries, but I am now looking forward to getting my body injury free in time for the World Championships in Moscow.”
Bleasdale is considered one of British athletics finest young talents and won the European Indoor Pole Vault Championship in March this year.
The most recent event she competed in was in the European Team Championships in Gateshead last weekend, but she was unable to record a score for any of her three jumps.
Britain, though, still managed to go and claim an impressive third place behind Russia and Germany, with a number of standout performances from a team made up largely of young athletes.
Due to injury, Bleasdale’s focus now switches to the World Championships in Moscow where she will be hoping to build upon her recent success and her sixth placed finished at the Olympics last year.
