Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo alternative is Gareth Bale

Published 8 Comments

Manchester United are lining up a moved for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Gareth Bale – if they can’t get a deal done for Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the Daily Star, new Manchester United boss David Moyes is keen to get a big-money signing and has narrowed it down to two options.

Moyes starts work on Monday and his first business will be attempting to secure a deal for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo – the report claims the Portuguese’s representatives will meet with Old Trafford officials next week.

However, the Red Devils have a contingency plan to move for Spurs star Bale if there is no resolution with Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas recently insisted the club would not be selling their prized asset this summer, as they are concentrating on mounting another challenge for Champions League qualification.

However, another failed attempt this year could make it difficult for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to hang on to Bale.

Manchester United and Real Madrid look set to cross paths quite a lot this summer, as Gareth Bale is also a reported target of the Santiago Bernabeu club.
