Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid look set to beat Chelsea and Manchester United to the signature of Sevilla's Geoffrey Kondogbia, according to Marca.

The France U20 star has been a sought-after prospect following a terrific season in La Liga. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder made 31 appearances for Unai Emery's side last season, following his transfer from Lens in the summer of 2012.

And it is this kind of form that prompted European giants Real Madrid and Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester United to fight it out for his signature.

But it is the Spanish side that look set to sign the 6ft 3in midfielder in the coming week. However, Chelsea and Manchester United will continue to battle to try and lure the midfielder to the Premier League, with the Frenchman being compared to the Chelsea great Claude Makelele.

And Spanish newspaper Marca have reported that Real Madrid look increasingly likely to conclude a deal for the defensive midfielder within the next week.

A move to Madrid would be the easiest option for the youngster in a business-like sense, as he is part-owned by the Doyen Group, who are a firm of private equity investors based in Spain.

They are keen on Real Madrid youngsters Alvaro Morata or Jese to be included as part of the deal, with another possibility of Kondogbia returning to Sevilla next season to help his development.

And with all of these variants in place, and Madrid being Kondogbia's preferred destination, Real Madrid are reportedly confident that a move can be concluded in the coming weeks.
