In the world of sport there are countless debates which are still currently going on to this day and the biggest debates come in the form of comparisons.
Comparing one player to another and everyone weighs in with their opinion on who they believe is the better out of the two, or in some cases the greatest of all time.
We constantly see comparisons in football with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi as well as Diego Maradona and Pele.
In the world of basketball every single fan knows that the hottest debate is whether LeBron James or Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time.
Ever since James managed to capture his second straight NBA title with the Miami Heat after the defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7, personalities from various sports have started to provide their opinions.
Superstar boxer Floyd Mayweather is the latest sports star to have his say.
Talking on ESPN radio in Chicago where Mayweather was promoting his fight alongside Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez which is set to take place in Las Vegas in September later this year, Mayweather is the latest person to add his name to the lost of people who believe King James is the best.
"Who’s a better player between LeBron James and Michael Jordan? I would say LeBron James, and I’m from the Michael Jordan era, I’m 36-years-old," said Mayweather.
"We’re not talking about champions, because if we were talking about championships, Bill Russell has 11, and the dunks Michael Jordan was doing in the dunk contest, Julius Irving was doing it... Really when we’re talking about who’s the best basketball player, it’s just an opinion.
"Do I love Michael Jordan? Absolutely, he’s an unbelievable player, he was the best in his era, but in this era it is more than just one. It’s an argument; you’ve got Kevin Durant, who some days I feel he’s better than LeBron.”
You can understand Mayweather’s point of view, especially when it comes from someone who has grown up watching Jordan dominate.
If it was solely based on championships then James wouldn’t even be in the frame for the greatest of all time; considering the level of opposition someone like James also has to come up against, it truly is astounding and this debate will not be closed any time soon.
Mayweather was quick to show his admiration for James and the Heat franchise, after so many fans turned their backs on him after he left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat.
He added: "LeBron James I’m proud of you, I never turned my back on LeBron James when everybody said it wasn’t right for him to go to the Heat. He went there and did what he said he was going to do."
So, with this debate wide open, who do you think is the greatest basketball player of all time?
James? Jordan? Or does any other name pop into mind? Have your say below.
