Tottenham Hotspur are ready to part with £17million to bring Galatasaray hotshot Burak Yilmaz to White Hart Plan, reports from Turkey suggest.

Andre Villas-Boas is known to be on the lookout for a striker, with Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe doing little to convince the Portuguese manager that they are up to the task of leading the line, after both had poor seasons last campaign.

Yilmaz has the credentials to fit the criteria that Villas-Boas is looking for in a centre-forward.

The 27-year-old has been in blistering form for the Turkish giants, establishing himself as one of their prized assets, and he has scored 24 goals in 30 games for the club.

With Spurs narrowly missing out on a Champions League place last season, signing a striker is meant to be a top-priority for Villas-Boas during this transfer window as Spurs look to challenge for the Premier League title.
