Lionel Messi has called on some of the biggest names in world football to feature in his ‘Messi & Friends’ charity matches this summer.
The charity friendly games, held to raise money for his foundation in aid of children and teenagers around the world, will see the likes of Thierry Henry, Sergio Aguero and Edinson Cavani join forces over the next two weeks.
Games will be held in Colombia, Peru and Chicago, with the first match on Sunday 30 June in Medellin, Colombia.
Other names involved include James Rodriguez – the new Monaco signing known as the ‘Colombian Cristiano Ronaldo’ - Pablo Aimar, Florent Malouda, Marek Hamsik, Eric Abidal, David Luiz, Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas.
Robinho and Javier Mascherano will also be part of the 36-man squad.
Malouda said: “The games will not only bring together some of the greatest talents still playing the game but will also raise funds for a very worthy cause.”
