Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds revealed she’s happy with her third-placed finish in the 200IM on the third evening of the British Gas Swimming Championships, and is now fully focussed on the World Championships.

The four-time Paralympic champion took bronze - her first medal of the Sheffield meet - in the MC 200m Individual Medley final behind Jessica-Jane Applegate in first and Natalie Massey in second.

But Simmonds insisted after the race that she’s happy with the result, and can’t wait to lead the British swimming team at August’s IPC World Swimming Championships in Canada.

After the race, Simmonds tweeted: “A mixed competition but happy with tonight's results in the 200IM, now to look forward and focus on Worlds #cannotwait #racetime.”

Simmonds will lead the 32-member British team to Montreal, Canada for the event that takes place between 12-18 August.

And Applegate, who claimed gold ahead of Simmonds in the Medley in Ponds Forge today, will also be part of that GB swimming team.

Applegate finished just under her lifetime best to touch in 2.34.69 (975 points) – finishing clear of Massey who touched in with a personal best of 2.38.09 (914 points) and Simmonds who clocked 3.11.45 (908 points).
