FC Basel secured their 16th league title in Switzerland to exert their dominance in their domestic league.

They also produced some impressive performances in the Europa League by reaching the semi-finals. Basel got the better of English powerhouses Tottenham in the quarter-finals before bowing out to eventual champions Chelsea in the semis.

The Swiss champions' performances caught the attention of the whole of Europe. Their players subsequently came under the radar of big clubs.

Youngsters like Mohammed Salah, Alexander Dragovic and Valentine Stocker came into prominence after some exquisite performances for the club.

Among them Dragovic caught the attention of many English Premier League clubs. Arsenal, Newcastle United, Everton, Sunderland and Southampton were reportedly tracking the Austria international.

The 22-year-old central defender has made more appearances than any other Basel defender. He was the one marshalling the troops at back and he was a threat on the opposition penalty box as well.

Dragovic has a hat-trick of Swiss League titles to his name, while his consistent displays have made him a regular at international level for the Austrian team.

Dragovic had won the Swiss Golden Player award for Best defender in 2012 and is rated very highly in all the quarters. He is considered as the player to carry forward the Austrian national team and the hopes surrounding the talented defender are high.

Basle club president Bernhard Heusler has confirmed that the club are in talks with Inter Milan regarding a move for Dragovic, who earlier revealed his interest for playing in Serie A and the Premier League at some stage in his career.

"I feel good at Basle, and in this moment I don't think about other clubs," he told ITA Sport Press. "I'd like to play in Serie A and the Premier League in the future. Being linked to Inter pleases me, but I can't know about the future."

With Inter Milan hot on his heels, are Arsenal and co. set to miss out on the young star? Can Dragovic help Inter to return to winning ways after a disappointing campaign?
