Liverpool continue in their search for a centre-back following the retirement of long-serving Jamie Carragher, and Mamadou Sakho has been outlined as the man to bolster Brendan Rodgers' defensive options.
The French international, who has 13 caps for his country, is tall, strong and has a good reading on the game. His physicality would certainly serve him well in the Premier League if he does decide on a move to Liverpool.
Sahko, who said he was "flattered" by the interest, only made 24 starts for PSG in their title-winning Ligue 1 campaign. Then manager Carlo Ancelotti went with Thiago Silva and Alex as his defensive partnership.
Sakho can also play in the holding-midfield role which would provide Rodgers with more options. He would certainly be a valuable addition to the Liverpool team and can inject a bit of pace into a back four that was exposed on numerous occasions last season.
At 23, he is still developing as a player and he will only improve. Following Liverpool's capture of Kolo Toure, he would have someone of great experience to learn from and help him adapt to life in the Premier League.
It looks as if Sakho would be a sound investment for the Anfield giants, and should a move materialise, the PSG ace could help Liverpool in their bid for a top four finish next season.
