Manchester United transfer target Thiago Alcantara wants a €20million release clause in a contract at Old Trafford, according to Sport.
The Catalan-based newspaper claims that a move to the Premier League champions is on the cards, but has stalled as Alcantara looks to negotiate such a clause into his deal.
David Moyes is ready to pay the 22-year-old €140,000-a-week as he looks to bolster the Red Devils midfield, according to the report, with Paul Scholes retiring and Ryan Giggs not getting any younger.
However, the experience of his friend, Giovani Dos Santos, has left Alcantara wary of a spell in the English wilderness. The central midfielder wants assurances that he will ‘a major player’ in the Manchester United first team.
The Red Devils had initially been reluctant to add such a clause into the contract, the paper claims, but are now coming round to the idea in the knowledge that Alcantara is likely to feature on a regular basis.
Moyes has until July 31st to bring the player to Manchester United from the Nou Camp, with his release clause set to rise to €90million at the start of August.
