Norwich City manager Chris Hughton is hoping that Chelsea target John Ruddy will remain at the club next season.

New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking for an established keeper to provide back-up to current number one Petr Cech, following the departure of Carlo Cudicini to L.A Galaxy earlier this summer.

This has left Mourinho with a slight lack of goalkeepers for next season, and the returning manager is hoping to complete a deal for Ruddy, who he considers as an adequate replacement for Cudicini.

And despite media reports linking Ruddy with a £5m transfer to Stamford Bridge, Norwich manager Chris Hughton is adamant that Ruddy will remain a part of his plans for next season, despite injuries plaguing his campaign last season.

Speaking to reporters ahead of his squad's pre-season tour of the United States, Hughton said: "We see very much John's future here and we look forward to him being here. John would be no different to any player we have here. Any interest in any of our players is just a mark and a testament to how well those individuals have done."

Hughton earmarked Chelsea's interest in Ruddy as a testament to how well the keeper has performed at Norwich in the past couple of seasons.

"We start training on Thursday. John us very much part of our plans and will be here. Then we go away to Austria next week and of course John is very much part of that. Any interest shown in any of our players is just a mark of how well they have done," added Hughton.
