Barcelona are trying to hijack Everton’s move for Keisuke Honda, according to talkSPORT.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez is a known admirer of the attacking midfielder’s talents and is thought to want to bring Honda to Goodison Park from CSKA Moscow.
The Spanish manager had been at the Confederations Cup to scout Honda, who was impressive for Japan despite their early exit, and it was thought that he was lining up a move to bring the 27-year-old to the club.
But, amid speculation of Thiago Alcantara's move to Manchester United becoming ever closer, it is thought that Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has lined Honda up as a potential replacement for the young Spanish midfielder should he leave the Nou Camp.
It would come as a major blow for Everton, who see Honda as one of their top targets, although his transfer to Merseyside is far from certain, with AC Milan already reportedly interested.
