Swansea City's hopes of signing Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony were dealt a major blow today as West Ham United entered the race with an opening bid, according to Sky Sports.
Bony is a hot property in the transfer market with many clubs chasing his signature.
The 24-year-old is a regular goalscorer for both club and country; he has scored around 46 league goals in 65 appearances for Vitesse.
Swansea City are also looking to bring in Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis, while West Ham has secured the services of striker Andy Carroll from Liverpool.
Both Premier League clubs have made strengthening their strike-force a priority - Bony's signature is will be vital to their respective aspirations.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bring him to Upton Park and reports suggests that he has tabled a bid of £10m for the striker's services.
Premier League clubs Arsenal, Sunderland and Newcastle United were also interested in the striker, but they are yet to make a move.
Bony is thought to be keen on a move to England and it is believed that he will analyse the options available before making a move.
