Victor Cruz set to sign new Giants contract

Victor Cruz is reportedly set to sign a new long-term contract with the New York Giants and is expected to do so before the start of training camp.

According to ESPN, most of the deal has been agreed upon and there are only a few details left to sort out and things are expected to be finalised before the Giants return for training camp.

Despite Cruz finally signing his first-round restricted free-agent tender on Friday, worth $2.879million, there was still uncertainty surrounding his future at Meadowlands.

Months of protracted negotiations about a renewal had left Giants fans worried about whether all the stalling would eventually see their number one receiver leave.

However, these latest reports will leave them feeling relieved, as Cruz has become an increasingly crucial part of the Giants offence over the past two years.

A Super Bowl winning season in 2011 coincided with the 26-year-old posting a single season franchise record 1,532 receiving yards.
