Barcelona striker Lionel Messi is confident that new star signing Neymar will make a huge contribution to the club in the coming years.
Neymar, who recently signed for Barcelona for £48.6mn from Santos, has been urged by Messi to repeat his Confederations Cup heroics and performances at Barcelona.
Messi was quoted by Marca as saying: "I hope Neymar can make a big contribution to Barcelona's football and he can keep putting on displays like he did in Brazil."
The 21-year-old Brazilian was awarded the Golden Ball for the best player at the Confederations Cup and starred in Brazil's sensational 3-0 win over Spain in the final.
"I'm certain that his signing has been good for us", Messi continued.
Some pundits have their doubts over Barcelona's new signing, saying the Spanish champions won't be able to cope with both Messi and Neymar in the same team.
Meanwhile, Messi was recently in Lima to play a charity game against a team under Neymar's command.
The Argentine skipper has praised the fans of Lima and has valued the locals' support.
"The people at the airport were great," Messi added. "Sometimes I don't manage to have my photo taken with everyone, but I always appreciate the people's good wishes."
