Makelele joined Chelsea from Real Madrid where he wasn't treated well.
The French star created a position of his own which people still refer to as the 'Makelele role'.

Makelele was one of the main reasons why Chelsea won back-to-back championships under Mourinho.
A tidy passer of the ball, Makelele is also a good tackler. He helped Chelsea win six trophies since he joined them in 2003.
4. Petr Cech
Cech is arguably one of the greatest goalkeepers to grace the Premier League and he has many goalkeeping records to his name and like Makelele has been crucial to Chelsea's recent success.
He was one of the first signings since Roman bought the club and now Cech can be touted as Chelsea's greatest ever keeper.
His heroic performance in the UCL final helped them clinch the Champions League title. Winner of 13 trophies with Chelsea, Cech still has a decade of football left in him and could become one of the greatest keepers.

Lampard scored in the 2008 UCL final which Chelsea lost on penalties to rivals Manchester United.
1. Didier Drogba
He has been the most important player in the Abramovich era.
Chelsea's go-to man for FA Cup finals, Drogba always scored in the FA Cup final.
