Columbus Blue Jackets winger Blake Comeau has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The contract is believed to be worth $1m and secures his future at the Blue Jackets for another season at least.

The 27-year-old has had a good start to his Blue Jacket’s career, notching two goals, three assists and six penalty minutes in nine games.

General manager Jarmo Kekalianen was understandably delighted with that Comeau had signed a contract extension, and told reporters: “Blake is a dependable two-way forward who combines physical play with ability in the offensive zone.

“We liked what we saw from him at the end of last season, as he fit in very well with our team.”

The Blue Jackets are currently ninth in the Western Conference and they will be hoping that the fact one of their regular starters is committing his future to the club will spur the team on to better things.
