David Stern's final NBA draft pick becomes YouTube hit

Published 1 Comments

David Stern’s final draft announcement as NBA Commissioner has become a major hit on YouTube.

The departing chief has been at the helm of the National Basketball Association for 30-years, and announced over 900 players arriving in the league via the first round of the draft.

Stern received a standing ovation from fans packed into the Barclays Center on Thursday night, as he made his way to the podium for the final time to announce that the Phoenix Suns had selected Nemanja Nedovic. In keeping with the crazy evening, the Serb was subsequently traded to the Golden State Warriors.

And, in a fitting tribute to Stern, deputy commissioner Adam Silver introduced the first pick ever made by the man he’s going to replace – Hakeem Olajuwon.

Olajuwon wore the same tuxedo and red bowtie from the 1984 night, and thanked Stern for all he’s done for the players during his three decades in charge.

Watch the brilliant video below, and look out for the comedy moment when fans boo the incoming Silva on stage….
