Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester United still in my heart

Manchester United have been offered a glimmer of hope in their attempt to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Real Madrid forward admitted to missing English football, reports Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old was speaking during a trip to Singapore, where he spoke glowingly about the Premier League, but also reiterated his stance that he is happy playing football in Spain.

Recent speculation has suggested that Ronaldo could follow Jose Mourinho out of the Santiago Bernabeu exit door, with rumours that Manchester United are ready to bring the Portugal captain back to Old Trafford.

However, it would take a massive offer for new Red Devils boss David Moyes to land the Real Madrid star, after the Spanish club paid a world record £80million fee for him in 2009.

With two years still remaining on his existing contract, Real Madrid are in a strong position when it comes to negotiating, and senior officials remain confident of securing Ronaldo to a new long-term contract.

But, even if player and club settle their recent differences and agree a new deal, Ronaldo has hinted that he could return for a second spell in England at some stage in the future.

"I miss English football. For me, it was one of the best years in my career when I was there in Manchester United.

"Everyone knows that it is a club that is still in my heart and I really, really miss. But now my life is in Spain. I am enjoying playing there too."

He added: "Part of my life is there, but in the future we never know. I am really, really happy in the Spanish league."
