It’s not so much Clash of the Titans - it's more Clash of the Trash-talkers, but it’s Tyson Fury who is seizing the initiative in offering his opinion about a potential fight with David Haye.
The pair, who are just as well known for their pre-fight antics as they are for their feats in the ring, are finalising details ahead of a much anticipated encounter on September 28.
According to The Sun, Fury is more than confident in his own ability and firmly believes that he is going to become the first man to knock Haye out since Carl Thompson in 2004.
"You’ve got to give it to him. He’s very fast, he’s an explosive puncher and a former world champion, so it’s going to look better when I knock him out," Fury said.
"I tell you what’s going to happen — I’m seriously going to knock Haye out.”
Fury, who at 6ft9 inches tall is one of the biggest heavyweights around in modern boxing, believes that he will be too much for Haye.
Haye of course moved up from the Cruiserweight division after unifying the belts there and would be offering a massive size advantage to Fury if the pair were to meet.
"Haye is only a cruiserweight and I’m going to knock him dead spark out. It’s not even a contest," added Fury.
"He might jab or try and do slick movements with the head, but it’s different when someone is coming at you at 100mph, throwing hundreds of punches."
No doubt this is only the start of a war of words likely to erupt between the two. Nevertheless, come September 28, British boxing could be looking at one of the biggest fights it has seen in a long time.
