Chelsea are being linked with a move for Manchester City target Daniele De Rossi.
TalkSPORT claims the Blues are ready to ‘usurp’ the Citizens in the race for the Italian midfielder, with Jose Mourinho an admirer of the 29-year-old Italian international.
And, NBC Sport cite Italian reports when claiming that ‘the special one’ is ready to offer an opening bid in the region of €10million.
Roberto Mancini had been heavily linked with a move for the Roma star during his time at the Etihad Stadium, but Manuel Pellegrini has since replaced the Italian.
The change at the Manchester City helm has seen their interest subside in recent weeks, and the focus on De Rossi now comes from west London.
Chelsea will have also taken encouragement from recent comments confirming that De Rossi is available for transfer, with president James Pallotta saying ‘everyone is on the market’ last week.
"De Rossi? We'll see. Everybody is on the market, just as they are for the Boston Celtics," he told RAI television.
A one-club man to date, De Rossi has spent 13-years in the first team at the Stadio Olimpico. But, his time in Serie ‘A’ could be coming to an end, and it’s Chelsea who are ahead of Manchester City in the race to bring him to the Premier League.
