Edmund beats fellow Brit O'Mara

Kyle Edmund overcame Jonny O'Mara in a battle of Brits to ruthlessly secure a spot in the last eight of the boys' singles at Wimbledon.

Edmund and O'Mara have been travelling to the All England Club together for the duration of the competition, but the draw ensured one would have his time at Wimbledon on Wednesday afternoon.

O'Mara missed the chance to convert the match's first break point, before Edmund took advantage of his only one in the first set before holding serve to secure the opener by 6-3.

The set lasted only 28 minutes and, with O'Mara having taken a potentially serious fall when approaching the net, Edmund was in no mood to let up on his close friend during the following set.

Edmund, 18, dispatched of O'Mara in clinical fashion to taken the second set 6-2 and secure the mach after 48 minutes on Court 14, with a place in the quarter-final his prize.

The Yorkshireman has had a hectic schedule in SW19, having initially played in the first round of the men's tournament, before featuring in the men's doubles, mixed doubles and boys' doubles.
