Washington Wizards re-sign Webster for $22 million

The Washington Wizards have resigned Martell Webster it has been confirmed.

The 26-year-old is believed to have put pen to paper on a four-year deal worth around $22 million.

Webster joined the Wizards in August last year from the Timberwolves on a one-year $1.6 million deal, and has now earned himself a bumper new contract.

The small forward revealed the deal yesterday on Twitter and thanked the Wizards for taking him back.

He wrote: "Ted Leonsis,Ernie G and Tommy Shep.Thank u so much for giving me a home and another opportunity to make something special in DC I'm a wizkid"

Webster will sign the contract on July 10 when the league's annual moratorium on signings and trades is lifted.

The former Portland Trail Blazers player bagged career-high points-per-game, three-point percentage, rebounds-per-game, steals-per-game, assists-per-game stats last season to earn his new contract.

Webster also revealed that the reason behind his desire to stay put in Washington - his family.

"It’s very reassuring," he said. "I’m secure. My family is happy about the situation. They love the city."
