The Detroit Pistons have reignited their interest in forward Rudy Gay following an unsuccessful bid to sign him from Memphis Grizzlies last season.

Now there's been a change of management in Toronto the Pistons have again shown interest in Gay again, offering the Raptors Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva in an attempt to negotiate a deal for him, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Both players are in line to make $8.5 million this season, with Gay set to make $37 million in the last two years of his current deal.

Gay averaged 19.5 points on 43 percent shooting in 33 games after a midseason trade sent him to Toronto.

The Raptors acquired Gay as part of a three-way deal with the Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies last year, trading Ed Davis to the Grizzlies and Jose Calderon to the Pistons in the process.

Gay has undoubted potential but has been heavily criticised over the last years for his inconsistent form. Whether a move materialises or not remains to be seen, but either way this signing is a gamble.
