The Boston Red Sox continue a three-game series with the San Diego Padres at Fenway Park today and Jon Lester is hoping to make it three wins out of three.
Lester helped beat Toronto on Thursday despite not being at his best, he allowed four runs and five hits with three walks over seven innings, but still improved to 8-4 to go along with a 4.61 earned run average (ERA).
However, in his last eight starts he is 2-4 with a 6.99 ERA and he was pulled out from his last match after aggravating a hip injury.
But Red Rox manager John Farrell appeared confident he would be fit for the final game of the series.
"Based on all the maintenance work Lester currently does, and the strength exams that he goes through, the range of motion is good," he said.
Boston took the first match on Tuesday, John Lackey tossed eight incredible innings while Brandon Snyder delivered a three-run double to see them claim a 4-1 victory.
San Diego on the other hand, was dealt a fourth straight defeat and have mustered just four runs during that stretch which is very poor by their standards.
This is the fifth series between the two teams but it is the first since San Diego took two of three in Beantown in 2011.
