New Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has revealed that he is interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye, as he eyes improvement in the side's midfielder.
Mega-rich PSG have just won the French title, but recently lost manager Carlo Ancelotti, who moved to Real Madrid to take over from Jose Mourinho.
Ancelotti's replacement is ex-France manager Blanc, who incidentally has only signed a one-year contract because the French club are keeping tabs on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's future.
Cabaye's future at St James' Park is uncertain - especially after new director of football Joe Kinnear pronounced his name wrong in an interview with talkSPORT - and a whole host of clubs are interested in the 27-year-old, including Premier League and French clubs.
The main contenders for Cabaye's signature are mega-rich French sides PSG and AS Monaco.
Blance gave the Toon midfielder his international debut during his tenure with France and he is still heavily interested in the playmaker.
"Yohan offers many things in midfield and can play in quite a few positions," Blanc told reporters. "He is an interesting player, and the midfield will be an area we will be strengthening because there will be departures."
