Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has said that London is unlikely to ever have an NFL franchise.
The NFL have been trying to widen their global audience in recent times and have staged matches at Wembley Stadium during recent times, leading to claims that there could be the potential for an English team to play in America’s top division.
But Roethilsberger thinks that it would be too much of a challenge to set-up.
“I think it would be really difficult because obviously the flight,” Roethlisberger said to Sky Sports. “You’d have to fly half the time; you would have to go over there and teams would have to come over here.
“But I think even more logistically, your family is back in the states. You have to come here. If you get released from a team, you have to fly all the way back.
“To deal with the family part would be really hard, so I don’t know if it could logistically work.”
Roethlisberger did, however, support the currently implemented idea of playing a game at Wembley Stadium during the season.
The next game to take place in England will be contested between Roethlisberger’s Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings on September 29.
