Kyle Korver agrees £24m deal with Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta Hawks to re-sign Kyle Korver on July 10
Free agent Kyle Korver has elected to re-sign with the Atlanta Hawks once the July 10 deadline comes around - agreeing on a multiyear deal worth an estimated $24m.
The Hawks met with Korver this week in California to wrap up the deal as the player was being tracked by several teams.
The Nets were reported to have offered the star player a three-year deal worth just under $10m.
While the Bucks also offered a deal worth an estimated $21m, Korver allegedly turned both down.
Korver only seemed to want to sign for the Hawks and was apparently told during his exit interview that the team wanted him back.
“Both me and my wife are really excited,” Korver told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“We had a great experience with the city and the organisation and feel very fortunate to be wanted back. I believe in what Danny is building. I do. And I’m excited to play my role in that.”
The sharp-shooter played in 74 regular-season games for the Hawks last season, averaging 10.9 points in 30.5 minutes each game.
Korver finished the NBA season with the second best three-point field-goal percentage.
He also went on a streak of 13 consecutive 10-plus point games from January 16 to February 11, the longest of his 10-year career.
It is clear to see why Korver has been such a hot commodity during the free agency period and the Hawks will be relieved to have signed him up again.
