David Price is adamant that he will avenge his shock defeat to Tony Thompson when the pair meet for their rematch on Saturday at the Echo Area, Liverpool.

Price has been training with British legend Lennox Lewis and believes that his mentor has taught him a few tricks that will pay off on fight night.

In February, Thompson dealt Price his first professional loss after delivering a second-round knockout blow that surprised even the most steadfast optimists.

Since then, though, Price has reverted back to the drawing board, and enlisted the help of former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox, with a view to return to the winning ways that saw him be labelled as Britain’s next big thing.

Speaking to ESPN, Price believes that Lennox’s advice will pay dividends on Saturday.

“He hasn’t changed too much about me, he’s just shown me subtle things which are going to help me," Price commented. “They are heavyweight specific things, things that would only work for heavyweights, so it’s been perfect.

“He’s shown me a good few little tricks but I won’t be able to do all of what Lennox has taught me in this fight, and he knows that.”

Thompson on the other hand has struck out at the notion that his first victory was a lucky one and according to Liverpool Echo, is soundly assured in his own capabilities when it comes to dealing with Price for a second time.

“We have bought in a whole school of things we could do in this fight," Thompson said. "That is the good thing about working with Tony Thompson, I am so versatile,"

The veteran American then added: “We have trained to walk to David and straight beat him up but have also trained for David being aggressive and looking for his mistakes.”
