Jessica Ennis-Hill met students taking part in a national sports competition
Olympic star Jessica Ennis-Hill was one of three athletes who met students from Dartmouth taking part in a national sports competition.
Ennis-Hill, along with Amir Khan and Anthony Ogogo, were in attendance at the English Institute for Sports in Sheffield, where students took part in the annual E-ACT games, involving schools sponsored by E-ACT - the Academy's sponsor.
32 students from Dartmouth attended the event with Dartmouth's 'trailblazer' Sophie Rapps, specially-selected to help with scoring and officiating at the event. Three pairs of students achieved third place in the competition, two pairs coming second, and another pair from Year Eight winning the badminton competition for their age group.
Annabel Hughes, who took part in the year eight table tennis competition with Laura Peeke, said: "We managed to get a load more medals for our school, which was great and we did very well.
"Before we went back on the coach we got to see Jessica Ennis and Amir Khan, which was an amazing experience and it was great to see some real athletes.
"Overall, it was an amazing trip and I would love to do it again in the future.
" Luke Payne, Dartmouth Academy lead practitioner in sport, was delighted with the impact the students from Dartmouth had.
"These students have absolutely done the academy and Dartmouth proud — they were competing against much bigger schools and all of them performed to the best of their ability," he added.
"I believe the continued success and improvement of the sports department at Dartmouth is raising aspirations for our students and events like this provide life opportunities which the students are enjoying and making the most of.
"The icing on the cake from a great trip was seeing Jessica Ennis, Amir Khan and Anthony Ogogo — Olympic legends who have inspired us all."
Ennis is due to take part in the British Athletics Sainsbury's Anniversary Games at the Olympic Park in Stratford on 26-28 July.
