Arsenal and Chelsea have been told to forget about signing Julian Draxler during the summer transfer window, although the Schalke midfielder may be available to purchase this time next year.

The 19-year-old is only of the most highly regarded young talents in German football, and recently agreed a new contract that extends his stay with Schalke until 2018 while also contains a €45 million release clause.

Draxler scored 13 goals in 39 appearances for Schalke last term, leading to links with a transfer to some of the most prominent clubs in European football.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been credited with interest in Draxler as Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho strive to bring reinforcements to the Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge respectively before the transfer deadline.

Manchester City are also reported to be pursuing the Germany international, but the Premier League trio will have to wait at least 12 months if they hope to secure a deal for Draxler.

"If there are further transfer enquiries for Julian Draxler, I will be fair to those clubs and reject them in a polite way," Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told German newspaper BILD.

"I have been a player myself but I have never been confronted with the money Draxler has during these transfer discussions.

"If I was him, to be honest, I would have thought things over - but he has made the right choice.

"It is great that he is staying at Schalke.

"It is not guaranteed that he will be on the move next summer but we are experienced enough to know that there will be further enquiries in the years to come."
