Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has emerged as a possible target for Premier League side Manchester City, according to the BBC, as their hunt to add another forward to their squad continues.

Having been keen to secure the services of Edison Cavani of Napoli, it seems City have turned their attentions elsewhere, having failed to meet Napoli's demands.

Rated at around £24m, the 27-year-old Negredo has been linked with a big-money move this summer following a superb season for his club, bagging 25 goals in La Liga.

And it seems that along with free-spending French side PSG, City could be interested in the signature of the Spanish international.

With only Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko upfront following the departures of Mario Balotelli in January, and now Carlos Tevez in the summer window, City need another striker.

Having been such a key figure of the rebuilding at Manchester City, the departure of Tevez is a huge loss, even though it became clear he would leave Manchester this summer. Yet City now find themselves short of striking options.

New arrivals Fernandinho and Jesus Navas will add some much-needed width and pace to the City midfield, something which became apparent that they needed as last season went on.

But despite these additions, new manager Manuel Pellegrini still has some work to do in the summer if he is to replace his departed strikers.

Having managed in Spain last season, the new boss at City will be all too aware of the abilities Negredo has to offer. And with Navas arriving from Sevilla, City could be about to do more business with the Spanish side.

Starting the season with the two remaining forwards is unthinkable, despite their qualities are clear ability to score goals for City.

And should a move for Negredo also become a fruitless pursuit, then they would need to look elsewhere yet again.

There are still many strikers being linked with moves away from their current clubs, and with City's spending power they could quite easily reinforce their front-line for the new season
