Sunderland striker hints at departure

Sunderland striker Ji Dong-Won has hinted that he wants to leave the Stadium of Light this summer.

Ji had been loaned out to Augsburg, who play in the Bundesliga, last season and his performances there – where he scored five goals in 17 appearances - have alerted the interests of a clutch of German clubs.

And the South Korean striker seems to be keen on a move away from Wearside.

"To be honest, several clubs are interested in me after last season," said Ji.

"It’s why I’ve been thinking about a change of club, but Sunderland will not let me go.

"I will always do my best, no matter where I play. The most important thing for me is that I play as much as possible."

Reports have circulated that Borussia Dortmund are leading the chase to sign the 22-year-old, as they look to add to their squad in order to challenge Bayern Munich for the title this season.

They may face competition for his signature from Stuttgart, Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach though, as all three clubs are thought to be interested in signing Ji.
