Brendan Rodgers may have their work cut out for the upcoming season as Liverpool fans across the planet are growing hungrier for UEFA Champions League football with every passing season.

But the lack of wins in recent campaigns don't give Reds fans much reason to invest any more faith in this year than they have the rest.

However, recent transfers leave Merseyside licking it's lips in anticipation of a fulfilling season to come.

The transfers of Simon Mignolet, free transfer Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto all give Reds fans reasons to get excited.

In past seasons, the starting line-up has not been what has held back the Reds, but the bench. Substitutes at Anfield have not been up to scratch until Rodgers took control this time last year.

The post-Benitez era at Anfield has not delivered much content to Liverpool fans, but the appointment of Rodgers has.

Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Joe Allen and Fabio Borini are players whom have greatly improved the starting line-up for the Reds and forced previous starters such as Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll out of the starting line-up this season.

Rodgers' signings have been key additions to the squad. However Rodgers' newest transactions don't necessarily only bring starters to the squad with Aspas and Luis Alberto bringing depth to the squad with Toure and Mignolet providing a selection dilemma rivalled by many Premier League teams.

This is beneficial to a Liverpool squad lacking depth over the past few seasons and should provide the team with a squad capable of challenging a top four position in the upcoming year.

Reds fans will have hope that their team will push the top of the table in the coming months.
