Messi v Ronaldinho v Neymar: The battle to be Barcelona’s greatest

Published 18 Comments

Who is better: Messi or Ronaldinho?

It’s a question that many have struggled with in the past, and isn’t about to get any easier when a third name is thrown into the equation.

That man is Neymar, who moves to the Nou Camp with a huge weight of expectation on his shoulders. The young Brazilian is the hope of a nation ahead of a World Cup in his homeland, and is also following in the footsteps of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho in moving to Barca.

When Ronaldinho moved to Catalonia, he already had a World Cup winners medal in the locker, and far less to prove to the watching world.

The same can’t be said of Neymar, who many are touting as the next big thing. Whether he can deliver on a regular basis remains to be seen.

That’s something Lionel Messi has shown he can do time and time again, scoring bucket-loads of goals in the past few seasons for both Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova.

It’s that consistency that many believe sets him apart from anyone and everyone who has ever played the game – including Ronaldinho.

Whether Neymar can match, or even surpass that, remains to be seen, but for now the battle for greatness in the modern era can only be between Messi and Ronaldinho.

And, with that in mind, check out this great video mash-up of the duo and their fantastic tricks, assists and goals…
