Marco van Ginkel arrives in the Premier League as the latest in a long line of Dutch youngsters to earn a high-profile transfer having initially made their name in the Eredivisie.
The 20-year-old midfielder has completed a transfer to Chelsea after an impressive season with Vitesse, and is unlikely to be the only player from his country to leave the Netherlands before the transfer deadline.
Kevin Strootman of PSV Eindhoven could also leave his homeland for pastures new during the transfer window, as prominent European clubs look to the Dutch league for bargain buys.
Wilfried Bony, although not Dutch, is another player to have forged his name in the Netherlands that appears set for a big move, with a number of Premier League clubs credited with interest in the Ivorian.
It is no great surprise that sides in Europe's top leagues are looking to the Eredivisie for talent, given the relative low transfer fees and high quality of football on display in the Dutch top-flight.
