Lionel Messi scored four goals to help his Lionel Messi & Friends side secure a 9-6 victory over a Rest of the World XI in the third and final exhibition match in Chicago last night.
The Barcelona forward played another starring role in the latest installment of a series of fundraisers for Messi-affiliated charities, which was enjoyed by more than 25,000 fans at Soldier Field.
In addition to Messi's magical display - cut short after he was substituted after 69 minutes - supporters enjoyed trademark goals from Thierry Henry and Ariel Ortega, as well as a stunning bicycle kick from amateur player Matt Eliason.
Latching on to a perfectly-weighted, chipped cross from Henry, Northwestern's all-time leading goalscorer fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the goal, with his acrobatic effort earning rave reviews from players and pundits alike.
Eliason's attempts to land himself a full-time professional contract in the MLS might now finally come to fruition after his standout performance.
