Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt will return to Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem after the two clubs agreed a year-long loan deal for next season.
The left-back returns to Vitesse after a successful season at the GelreDome last season. He impressed manager Peter Bosz, after making 40 appearances for the club last season. Van Aanholt will be looking to impress at Vitesse for a second season in succession following the appointment of Jose Mourinho back at Stamford Bridge.
Van Aanholt will hope to use this second loan spell as an opportunity to show Mourinho what he can do in a competitive environment.
Vitesse's official website confirmed the move in a statement, which read: "Patrick Van Aanholt will play again next season at Vitesse, The 22-year-old defender is hired for a season from Chelsea football club. Van Aanholt begins his third season in Arnhem."
Chelsea completed the signing of Vitesse midfielder Marco Van Ginkel in an £8m deal earlier this week, but he is not part of the deal that sees Van Aanholt return to the club next season.
The 22-year-old is highly rated amongst the Stamford Bridge coaches, but faces a near impossible task of removing England international Ashley Cole from the left-back berth at Chelsea.
Ryan Bertrand is another senior international that is highly thought of at Chelsea, and another player that is currently ahead of Van Aanholt in the current pecking order.
