Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent has quashed Sunderland’s hopes of bringing the Italy international to the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats had reportedly had a €10m bid for the midfielder recently rejected by Juventus, as Paolo Di Canio looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
But Giaccherini’s agent has issued a statement to Sky Sports, saying that his client will not be leaving his current club this summer.
"Myself and my partner have not called anyone, and also [Juventus director general Giuseppe] Marotta has made it very clear on the future of Giaccherini.
"And he gets on well with Antonio Conte, who is a great coach and he has no intention of selling him - he is not for sale
“He is fine at Juventus. He has the confidence of everyone and still wants to win so much. I believe Juventus are in a strong shape to win a third consecutive title."
The signing of the 28-year-old would have been quite a coup for Di Canio’s men if they had managed to pull it off, with Giaccherini impressing for the national team during their Confederations Cup campaign, but this latest statement has dented their ambitions to bring him to England.
