Atlanta Hawks have reportedly renewed their interest in free-agent Monta Ellis, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Hawks were unsuccessful in landing Ellis on trade deadline day but with him now a free agent after leaving Milwaukee Bucks, an agreement could well be reached this time. The Denver Nuggets are also reportedly interested in the guard.

Atlanta have already struck free-agent deals with the former Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap and returning sharpshooter Kyle Korver.

It is believed a possible deal with Ellis would involve roughly $10million a year, although any kind of deal is not imminent despite negotiations believing to have taken place.

After losing Josh Smith to the Detroit Pistons in free agency, the Hawks are desperate to strengthen their attacking line-up, although a deal to bring in Ellis is believed to be more of a short-term option than anything long-term.

Ellis would appear to be a sensible option for the Hawks after averaging 19.2 points for the Bucks last year, and 19.4 points per game over the course of his career.

However, the Mississippi-born guard has had problems with efficiency over the past few years, after not shooting better than 43.3 percent in any of the last three seasons.

Ellis opted out of an $11million contract tabled by the Bucks in order to find a better deal elsewhere, and if the reports are true he will have a far more prestigious wage package at the Hawks.
