Are we in football's golden era?
It is hard to imagine how the current crop of global super-stars can be bettered
When it comes to football - the most supported, most beautiful game in the world – many supporters demand a high level of excellence from their beloved team and most admired player.
And with today’s level of talent exploding in different parts of the world, like numerous volcanic eruptions creating that beautiful chaotic order, a new, and different dimension of brilliance is needed to keep up with the trends.
Back in the day, there were only a handful of superstars that dazzled and almost paranormally controlled that little leather ball. One could say that Pele, Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane inspired the current generation to do bigger and better things, which will ultimately inspire the future generations to go one step ahead, creating a symphonic paradigm of talent.
Today we no longer have a handful of stars, we have an ever-growing pool of superstars that the talent inspired and determined minds have presented to us.
The use of the words “good” or “impressive” or “intriguing”, doesn’t describe or add any flavour to what the current level of football really is. It’s somewhat hard to believe some of the manoeuvres this current generation of footballs pull-off.
Fans are constantly hypnotized by the skills these footballers have to offer, it’s almost animated. Footballers such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Juan Mata, Neymar, Thierry Henry, Garth Bale, Edinson Cavani and Didier Drogba are just a handful of what today’s footballing world delivers.
If the aforementioned list of talented footballers wasn’t prodigious enough, 14 and 16 year-olds are being compared to the greats. What other compliment can overshadow this evaluation at such a blooming age?
One can only imagine the level of creation the next generation of stars will be able to do with a football.
