Chelsea are being linked with a move for Liverpool defender target Tiago Ilori.
The Daily Mirror claims Blues boss Jose Mourinho is ready to hijack Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, and attempt to bring the Sporting Lisbon star to west London.
Ilori has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, with Rodgers already having two bids rejected for the £8.5million-rated 20-year-old.
Capped at U20 level with Portugal, the player is reported to want first team football, which could give the Reds the advantage as they look to rebuild their defence at Anfield.
Jamie Carragher’s retirement has left a huge hole to fill on Merseyside, and whilst Kolo Toure provides experience for Liverpool, young Ilori could be a significant addition for the long-term success of the club.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have plenty of options at the back, with John Terry, Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic all vying for first-team chances at Stamford Bridge.
Ilori would give ‘the special one’ an additional selection headache, although a move to the English capital would represent a return to the place of his birth.
It isn’t just Premier League clubs who are keen on the player however, with the Mirror claiming Valencia are also monitoring the situation.
