With Edinson Cavani looking more and more likely to move to either Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City have started looking to other options to add to their striking department.

With only Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko currently available, they will be looking to add one or two more strikers to increase depth in the striking department.

With Manchester City not willing to meet Cavani's release clause, they have started looking at various other options to replace Mario Balotelli and the recently departed Carlos Tevez.

We look at six different strikers who would be suited to Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City.

1. Luis Suarez | Liverpool

Having lost out on Cavani, Manuel Pellegrini might just look to another Uruguayan striker who recently expressed his desire to leave Anfield.

Suarez, however, seems to be annoyed with the English media rather than the club and thus would prefer leaving to a club abroad, like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Bayern Munich.

It is definitely going to be hard to bring Suarez to Manchester City but we have seen unimaginable moves like Fernando Torres and Rafael Benitez to Chelsea from Liverpool and Carlos Tevez to Manchester City from Manchester United.

He would definitely be an expensive purchase but the thought of Sergio Aguero and Suarez starting the lines together would be worth all the money spent.

2. David Villa | Barcelona

To have Spain's greatest ever striker available for less than £15m, it's shocking to see why Pellegrini has not shown any interest in David Villa yet.

Tottenham are currently interested in purchasing Villa, but with Spurs still interested in Christian Benteke, it's not certain as to if he would be moving to the north London club.

Arsenal were interested in Villa last January but have no expressed any intent in trying to buy him this transfer window. With someone with such finesse, positioning, heading and free-kick skills as Villa, Manchester City should probably go in and purchase Villa.

He would fit into Pellegrini's style of play perfectly and would be ready to link up with his close friend David Silva - with the two having played together for years at Valencia.

3. Robert Lewandowski | Borussia Dortmund

Robert Lewandowski is probably the closest you can get to Edinson Cavani, in terms of age, goals in the past season and reputation.

The Poland international was in scintillating form last season, having plundered Real Madrid single-handedly in the Champions League semi-finals.

Borussia Dortmund have resigned to losing their star striker and have already agreed a deal for Saint-Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Lewandowski is expected to cost a lot, and with Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea all interested in him, one can expect a bidding war soon. That would, however, not stop Manchester City in going all the way to purchase him if they feel he is the right man for the team.

4. Fernando Torres | Chelsea

Here is another Spanish striker who could be up for sale. With Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Chelsea, Torres’ controversial stay at the Stamford Bridge is expected to end soon.

‘El Nino’, having not been able to replicate his previous form at Chelsea, nevertheless has a lot of skill. All he needs to get back to his previous form is change. And who else for Torres to play under than Manuel Pellegrini, who is known to bring out the best in his players: notably Santi Cazorla (at Villarreal and Malaga) and wonderkid Isco.

5. Zlatan Ibrahimovic | Paris Saint-Germain

Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. One expects a move to the English Premier League next for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Having previously won the Eredivise with Ajax, La Liga with Barcelona, Serie A with three different teams and now the Ligue 1 with PSG, one expects Zlatan to move to the Premier League - and why not Manchester City?

He is a striker who scores plenty of goals and from all ranges - remember his outrageous overhead kick against England?

Although Pellegrini is not the person who might put up with Zlatan’s attitude and tantrums, this could nevertheless happen.

6. Fred | Fluminense

With five stars previously mentioned, it’s shocking that the front-runner for the striking slot for Manchester City is the lesser known Fred from Fluminense.

Fred was brilliant for Brazil in the recent Confederations Cup, coming out from nowhere to score crucial goals at crucial moments and against the best teams. He would be a direct replacement for Carlos Tevez.

However, I don’t see Manchester City stopping with just Fred. They might look into bringing in another taller striker, primarily due to the amount of damage that could do when put together with Jesus Navas’ pinpoint crosses.

All these strikers are brilliant in their own ways and with many teams looking for new strikers, Manchester City might have to act fast if they want to buy someone effective and high profile.
