Arouna Kone has been confirmed as new manager Roberto Martinez’s first signing as Everton boss.

Martinez linked up with the Ivorian striker at Wigan and was obviously impressed enough to bring him to Goodison Park with him.

Kone has signed a three-year deal with the Toffees, as Martinez looks to add competition to his forward line that already contains the likes of Nikica Jelavic and Victor Anichebe.

The fee is officially undisclosed - although it is likely to be around the £6million mark.

Kone signs following former club Wigan’s relegation to the Championship last season.

Despite the Latics misfortune, the pacey forward still did enough to gain many admirers last campaign with a series of excellent performances that showed his capabilities at the top level.

The 29-year-old scored 13 goals last season and will be hoping to improve on his tally this year as Everton look to meet Martinez’s ambitious aim of challenging for a top-four spot.
