Chelsea’s latest acquisition, Marco van Ginkel, is one that promises to be a fruitful prospect in future years.
In the same vein as Hazard and Oscar, Lukaku and Courtois, Van Ginkel can boast that time is firmly on his side.
At the devilishly young age of 20-years-old, his playing style has attracted the attention of top clubs - ultimately paving the way for his £9 million move to Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is reported to have assured Van Ginkel that, despite his age, he will play an integral part of the Blues’ set up.
Having already succeeded in acquiring a full international cap, the former Vitesse midfielder has significantly bolstered his renown with a move to the Premier League contenders.
With the age of senior player Frank Lampard looming over the Bridge, Van Ginkel is seen as an apt replacement for Chelsea’s all time top scorer and would benefit greatly from a year under his tutelage.
Billed as a ‘hybrid between Frank Lampard and Michael Essien’, Mourinho will be licking his lips at the chance to work with him, and the tenderness to mould him into his ideal midfielder.
The young Dutch sensation will, quite obviously, need time to adapt to the big leagues; however, it is clear that Mourinho and the Chelsea back-room staff have great faith in the boy and will be happy to have snapped him up amid a shark tank of interest.
