LeBron James will be a target for the LA Lakers next summer, according to various reports.
HoopsWorld reporter Alex Kennedy cited unnamed sources at the end of last week when claiming that the franchise will look to beat the odds and make a run at the title next season, before pursuing one of the game’s all-time greats.
The Lakers will not be alone in their interest of James, who becomes a free agent at the end of the 2013-14 campaign. A return to the Cleveland Cavaliers has been mooted, whilst New York is an obvious fit for the ‘King’ as far as location is concerned. He could, of course, re-sign with the Miami Heat.
Whatever happens, it’s sure to be TV gold – much like his ‘decision’ to move to Florida in 2010.
James was drafted number one overall in the 2003 NBA draft, and turned the Cavaliers from perennial underachievers to play-off regulars.
But, after failing to lift a Championship in his home-state, he moved to Miami and has proceeded to win two titles in his first three seasons with the franchise.
The Heat are sure to be favourites to do it again next year, but whether it’s James’ last action with the team, only time will tell.
