It certainly wasn't the best season for Manchester City’s fans endured as the team failied to successfully defend the Premier League title, losing to bitter rivals Manchester United.
They also continued to disappoint in the Champions League, coming last in their group before a shock loss to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup final sent Roberto Mancini on his way to the job centre.
But it is not all doom and gloom for City fans and they shouldn't be disheartened by the performances of last year. With Manuel Pellegrini coming in from Malaga, the players will be looking to impress the new manager to secure places in the starting line-up.
Competition in a squad is always healthy and usually produces good results. The likes of David Silva and Sergio Aguero will also like to build on their mediocre performances of last season to return to their previous best.
With City confirming the signings of Fernandinho and Jesus Navas, the fresh faces will lift the morale of the football club. More signings are likely to be made in the duration of the current open transfer window as with most transfer seasons of Manchester City in recent seasons.
The likes of Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany will hope to inspire City to ensure they win back the title. The expectations of a club like City are to win trophies and I for one wouldn't be surprised if the expectations are filled.
