With Napoli's Edinson Cavani close to securing a move to French side Paris Saint-Germain, which would see him form a strike partnership with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, we thought we would look into some of the best strike-partnerships in football.

So if the move was to be finalised and completed, it would see two of the best strikers in the current game link up together and form quite an unstoppable strike partnership.

But how would Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani match up to some other strike-partnerships.

Below I list the top-five striking-partnerships to embrace modern football.

(In no particular order)

Neymar and Lionel Messi

Despite these two not actually playing together yet, I am pretty confident that the Brazilian wonder-kid and the Argentine magician will link-up together and create one of the best ever striking-partnerships.

Messi has smashed nearly every football record in recent years and will now have teenage sensation Neymar next to him to help him guide FC Barcelona back to European glory.

Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie

Although they have only played together for a season and for the majority of that, Rooney was deployed as a centre-midfielder, these two as a strike partnership can only be considered as class.

Robin van Persie is a goal-scoring machine and as for Rooney, he can contribute with goals, assists, tackles, passes, just everything.

A fine example was Van Persie's second against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

The pass from Rooney was sensational and the finish from Van Persie was even better.

Raul and Ronaldo

Mr. Real Madrid and one of the best striker's to ever embrace football and no it's not that Ronaldo, it's the original Ronaldo.

Two of the best ever footballers to embrace world football and two of the deadliest strikers when put together to form a partnership.

Ronaldo would finish anything and Raul would create anything.

Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke

The names might not be as big as some footballers, but their partnership together was as deadly as any other.

Read each other perfectly, worked with each other superbly and guided Manchester United to trophies upon trophies.

The two were at the heart of the treble winning season as well.

Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp

In my opinion, two of the best footballers to ever play the game.

These two had everything you would want in a footballer and in the early 00s, they were a joy to watch week in, week out.

Helped guide Arsenal to league titles, FA Cup titles and also helped them go a whole season unbeaten, the two strikers together are easily one of the best ever strike partnerships.

Goals, assists and just dazzling skill were on show every week between these two players and with Henry already owning a statue outside the Emirates Stadium, Bergkamp will soon join him with his statue being made as we speak.
