Manchester United transfer target worries Nemanja Vidic

Published 11 Comments

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is concerned about the club’s interest in Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay and wants talks over his future.

According to the Daily Star, Vidic wants to speak with new Old Trafford manager David Moyes the reported chase for another centre-back and is worried his future is being threatened.

Garay has been linked with a £17million transfer this summer as Moyes looks to reinforce the squad he inherited after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement at the end of last season.

Manchester United have a number of central defenders at the club, with Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones all playing there when the partnership of Vidic and Rio Ferdinand is unavailable.

Signing Garay would presumably mean one of the remaining centre backs would be allowed to leave – or shown the door.

Vidic has had significant injury worries over the past two seasons and, at 31, could be heading towards the conclusion of his Manchester United career.

The Serbian was recently linked with a possible switch to AC Milan, but his agent came out to claim it was “pub talk”.
