Norwich City are interested in signing Toby Alderweireld from Ajax, according to the player’s father.
The defender has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs already this summer, including Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham recently.
It has now been reported by Goal.com that Canaries’ manager Chris Hughton has confirmed his interest in the Belgium international.
The East Anglian club have already completed the signings of Nathan Redmond and Ricky van Wolfswinkel so far this summer, and his father Vic has said negotiations are at an early stage.
"They've not spoken to us yet," he told Het Nieuwsblad. "Norwich played it correct and first confirmed their interest to Ajax. This week it will become clear how interesting the offer is."
The 24-year-old has three caps for his country, and his versatility is one of the reasons so many clubs are wanting to sign him.
He can play at both centre-back and right-back, and played an important role in Ajax winning the Eredivisie last season.
